Ed seems to thrive on different musical venues. At age 13, he landed his first gig at the Crownsville State Mental Hospital with a Baltimore based band. In high school, he and several of his friends played in the Andover High Stage Band playing tunes from the likes of Chicago and Blood Sweat and Tears. They copped most of the school's charts, playing gigs for money with their band, Final Analysis. Ed later attended Towson State University and played lead trumpet with Hank Levy's jazz ensemble. As he developed his appreciation for jazz listening to Stan Kenton, Dizzy Gillespie, and Maynard Furguson, he was introduced to soul and has never looked back. He continues to perform in non-conventional gigs, and recently played at Ockoberfest in the mountains of Georgia.
