Mike has cultivated his sound engineering talents now for over 16 years. His experience mixing sound and playing includes such diversified venues as bluegrass, top40, country, motown, and R&B. As sound engineer, Mike's trained "Wizard's Ear" is apparent in both the performances and recordings of TMD. His sound experience also includes mixing performances for such national acts as Shirley Austin Reeves of the "Shirelles", the Beatlemania group "Get Back", and local celebrity "Steve Rouse" of Baltimore's WQSR's "Stevie and the Satellites". Mike is often called upon to provide sound reinforcement and coordination for those really big jobs. For example, he recently engineered the sound for eighteen churches gathering at Merriweather Post Pavilion. And then there's the Tale of Two Cities! Both Annapolis and Silver Spring contracted Mike to direct and provide sound for each city's "First Night" New Years Eve Party.
Involved extensively in studio production and arranging since 1988, Mike has recorded several pieces for two albums for WQSR's twisted tune albums, several commercial spots, and a "home grown" Bluegrass Album. His most recent venture was with Phil Sims where he jointly recorded, produced and arranged the music for two local outdoor holiday season displays; Columbia's "Symphony of Lights" and Gaithersburg's "Winter Lights". Listen closely when driving through one of these music and light extravaganzas, you should be able hear the footprints of the Brass Soulution(specifically, Jingle Bells). Mike's expertise was an invaluable asset in helping TMD complete their recording project "Sessions 96". TMD looks forward to future projects with Mike.
